Origins & Early Influences Raised in Swindon, Wiltshire, Matt’s earliest inspirations came from secondhand UK rave tapes—SL2, Ratpack, DJ Hype, and Carl Cox filled his bedroom at age 10, when he first started mixing belt-drive turntables. Under the alias “Matty B,” he honed his craft at public parties and local carnivals, bridging acid-house squelches, breakbeat breaks and early electro. DIY Studio & Pirate Radio At 12, Matt teamed with producer Gary Cox to create his first CD, Matty’s Mad Mixes. By 14, he had a bedroom setup—turntables, a PC sampler and a pirate FM transmitter—broadcasting underground tracks and MC showcases from local artists, learning that community collaboration fuels creativity. Breakthrough & Label Signs After ghost-producing and white-label vinyl releases via Bebo/MySpace connections, his bold edits earned thousands of downloads and club spins from Tokyo to Toronto. Official signings followed: Trax Records (Chicago), Cleveland City Records (UK), plus releases on Porky Records, FLASH MOB, CamelMusic, WyldCard and many more. Berlin Chapter & Activities Now based in Berlin, Matt strikes a balance between studio innovation and live energy. In his Berlin studio, he continues crafting forward-thinking productions for labels like Musical Directions, Bassment Discos and more. On the performance front, his tracks have been featured on Funktion-One systems at Ministry of Sound, Fabric, Sisyphos and beyond. While focusing on new releases, he remains open to select DJ bookings that complement his production-driven career.
